Editorial & Fact-Checking Policy
Authenticating Sunnah and Ensuring Practical Application
To uphold the integrity of the Sunnah and ensure our guidance is genuinely practical and meaningful, Fiqhly maintains a rigorous Editorial Policy focused on both authenticity and contextual relevance.
1. Expertise and Legal Classification
All guidance on Sunnah for the Modern Muslim is supervised by Akhmad Syafiuddin, an expert in Islamic discourse and law, and a qualified graduate of Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt.
- Classification Clarity: Akhmad Syafiuddin's legal background is crucial for clearly classifying recommended practices (Sunnah Mu'akkadah, Mustahabb, Adab) and ensuring they are never mistakenly presented as obligatory, maintaining the true spirit of ease (Taysir) in the Shariah.
- Contextual Review: Content is vetted to ensure that the practical application of the Sunnah is feasible for the American Muslim living in a fast-paced world, prioritizing genuine spiritual benefit over cultural rigidity.
2. Hadith Authentication Protocol
Given that the core of our content is the Sunnah, our fact-checking is heavily focused on the science of Hadith:
- Authenticity First: Only Hadith classified as Sahih (Authentic) or Hasan (Good) are used as the basis for recommended Islamic practices. Hadith that are Dha'if (Weak) are used only for general virtues (Fada'il al-A'mal) and are explicitly labeled as such.
- Source Verification: Every prophetic tradition cited for Sunnah for the Modern Muslim is traced back to its original source in the authoritative Hadith collections (e.g., Sahih al-Bukhari, Jami' at-Tirmidhi).
- Scholarly Commentary: We consult classical commentaries (Sharh) to ensure the Hadith is interpreted correctly in light of the broader Fiqh tradition.
